Early Birds: 7am-8:15am - Meet in the art room. Please don't leave children unattended, as the doors for school will remained locked until 8:15am.
Lucky Ducks: Noon-3:30pm - Meet in the PK classroom, located on the lower level under the breezeway.
Busy Bees: (3:30-6pm) - Meet in the lunch room for snack, go to the playground or homework room and then finish in the PK classroom located on the lower level breezeway at the door marked "After School Care."
Sign Out: Parents must come into the room to sign the child out and retrieve belongings. Should someone other than the parent need to pick up the child, the parent will need to send a note to the Director stating the name of the person picking up the child and the approximate time the person will arrive. It will be necessary to present a drivers' license as proper identification before the child will be released. Please be sure the person picking up the child is well informed of the policy so the proper identification is brought to after school care. Even if the pick up person is on your list, you will still need to send a written note to the Director for the child to be released. Please note: when picking up children after school, a sign will be hung in the "After School Care" room to let you know where your child is (playground, gym, or New Life Center).
Bad Weather Days: The principal is authorized to declare emergency closings or delays if, in his judgement, weather or road conditions or other circumstances warrant such a decision. All school and day care staff members and families will be notified by WBAP (820AM radio) and local TV news for the announcement of St. Paul Lutheran School closings.
Child Abuse/Neglect: An important factor in providing quality care to young children is ensuring their health and safety. We will strive to protect them from abuse or neglect both in their homes and in our care. All caregivers will report to the proper authorities any suspected physical abuse, sexual abuse or neglect. To stop child abuse, the cycle must be broken so that the children do not grow up to be abusing adults.
Discipline: The purpose for all discipline with young children is to help them become increasingly self-managing and socially responsible. We are committed to help children learn to express and manage their feelings, cooperate with other children, and negotiate their own conflicts. Only positive, non-punitive methods are used to achieve this goal.
Emergency/Accident Procedures: In case of injury requiring medical assistance, we will make every attempt to contact either parent first. If the parents cannot be reached, then the emergency contact person will be called. If the injury is serious, an ambulance will be called immediately. The child's physician and/or the paramedics will make the decision for treatment. In case of a small accident (scraped knee, etc.), the staff will administer first aid treatment. The parent will be informed of these injuries when the child is picked up.
Holiday: Extended Care will follow the St. Paul Lutheran School calendar and will close on all days indicated in the school calendar. This will include the 1/2 days of school.
Lunch: Hot Lunch, milk, and 8th Grade Pizza Lunch are available. See SPLS menu for lunch options and prices.
Problems or concerns: Should you have a concern about the care your child is receiving at our day care, we ask that you first bring it the attention of the Director and give her the opportunity to check into the problem and get it resolved for both parties. Our day care is licensed through the State of Texas. We follow all guidelines set out by the Department of Family and Protective Services. They are always willing to address any questions or concerns you may have. Their address is: Texas Departement of Family and Protective Services, 1501 Circle Dr. #310, Fort Worth, TX 76119, 817-321-8604.
